Geoff Henshall

Geoffrey Henshall’s work consists of mixed media, with elements of collage, and shows vulnerability backed by emotional chords commonly found in life. He tends to work in layers often placing subjects defiant of their surroundings. He strives to show restraint and discipline while progressing his work as an artist and observer.

The following zine is a collection of works and personal photographs amassed by the artist from 2005-2011.

Steve Chellis

Steve Chellis is a painter who utilizes found imagery for the majority of his work. This allows for a detachment to exist, which enables nothing else, other than the painting to unfold. Often merging recognizable forms with more absurd imagery. According to Chellis: “Parts don’t always add up, and why should they? They add up to a painting, not an image.”

We are very pleased to have a strong bluetan presence at Space Womb’s annual group show Imminent Twilight.

From Space Womb:
“As the end of this year and the beginning of a new year is approaching, this exhibition metaphorically explores the motif of a new beginning in a single-day cycle. The “ending of a year” is like the inevitable twilight in a day, while the “birth of a new year” is the break of day. Through various artistic approaches, these artists capture this celebratory moment in their own unique styles. “

Hope to see you there! Cheers, bluetan.

We are extremely excited to announce A Sunday in Soho, opening September 1st at Fabrikreal Glanzmann Generalunternehmung AG in Basel, Switzerland. A Sunday in Soho is a two-person show featuring more than 60 works from the past 12 months by Joe Strasser and Joseph O’Neal.

Joe Strasser - Scarecrows, 46“ x 56“ x 2“, acrylic on wood

“The works are intended to invoke archaic revelations that are embedded deep within the human psyche.
The artists achieve this by taking on a Shaman like approach to creating objects and paintings. O’Neal and Strasser
believe that in order to create an object that conveys an opportunity for transcendence; one must travel to the
unknown areas of thought, and bring back symbols and forms that encompass universal meanings. Strasser and
O’Neal work intuitively rather than expressively; thus using themselves as a catalyst for the unknown.”

Geoff Henshall’s work consists of mixed media, with elements of collage, and shows vulnerability backed by emotional chords commonly found in life. He tends to work in layers often placing subjects defiant to their surroundings. Henshall strives to show restraint and discipline while progressing his work further as an artist and observer.

Geoff has been working on records for over ten years now; usually ending up as abandoned studies. So we decided to offer up a few to all you fine folks. Available now in the bluetan store for $28 plus $6 shipping. So we try and keep him on our radar as much as possible. His newest work that simultaneously explores nature and electronic maps and boards have us yet again realizing why we love this guy. Check out his guest gallery for more work.

Spanning numerous media, Polomik’s work traces visual and mental systems. Paths in which one might move, see, feel, or imagine often define and connect subjects, expressing spiritual progressions of search, growth, and understanding.

To coincide with Polomik’s guest gallery we have 10 ltd. giclee prints available of his pen and ink drawing Grass Eaters available in the bluetan store.

Michael Polomik’s The Grass Eater print is from an ink drawing completed for the publication “Growing Gills” by David Joy. These giclee prints are 10” x 8”, signed and numbered by the artist. $24/each and free shipping. Matted, backed, and ready to hang. According to Polomik: “Purchasing this print will lead to you having the best sex of your life.” Us over here at bluetan have questioned the validity of this statement, but then again Polomik has never lied to us! FREE SHIPPING!

Imaginary Arms // exhibition photos
